Your house can be built and decorated by yourself or with friends. There you can chat with your friends and store your items in storage. 

You can buy and sell houses too. If you don't have enough money for an entire plot of land you can live in an apartment.

In your house you can setup manequins with your favorite outfits for easy clothes swaps.
